I was never a fan of Wilander; a pale Borg imitation who fulfilled his potential early. Typical school of topspin on forehand, backhand & (1st AND 2nd) serve (see MA on topspin 2nd serves - although I don't believe he has a real one), with no volley at all.
Anyway, the black sails recall the black ships of Commander Perry, who turned up & scared the Japanese. (Well, it's almost as contrived as The Larkin link.)
