Hey Sugar, sorry to hear about the dud, but it just goes to show that the Canadian literary landscape is about as barren as our praries. A Toronto Star columnist once made a crack that in order to be nominated for the Governer General's award one need only be Canadian and have written anything, from a book, to an article, to some slightly coherent thing on a napkin.
After I swore off "literature" I ended up picking up Will Self (which I think only really qualifies as literature because Self is English). I've read the Quantity Theory of Insanity and am working on Cock and Bull and I've come to a tenative conclusion that Self is funny as hell and has better ideas (though not prose) than Mini-mart. Of course I say tenative because I also though Julian Barnes was pretty funny.
By the way, does anyone remember where in Rachael Papers that passage is about the winged-hair is? I'm referring to the one which was part of the proof that Amis was being plageurized. There is a passage in C&B which seems similar too...
