Dear Milly or current occupant: I agree with caricature-level #4. You claimed that Amis cartoonifies Nicola Six "when he simply fails to get inside her head and thinks he is writing from her point of view whereas actually, erm, he is writing from his own". In other words, Amis is guilty of authorial solipsism. (To use a term coined by Kingsley.) Let me stress that I don't object to Nicola because she is an intentional cartoon-character or a symboloid. I object to Nicola because she seems lifeless to me. Although her lifelessness may be intentional. Since Nicola is supposed to be an incarnation of a black hole, then I guess she is only being true to her own character.
