I only whine to make the day go faster, not because I have strong opinions about Tina Brown or some new magazine "...that you can fold and put in your bag and take to the gym." What the ...? What magazine CAN'T do that? The only magazine I have a strong feelings about is Vanity Fair (because I once had a conniption trying to find the Table of Contents which is expertly hidden amongst 200 pages of advertising). The Gwynyth shots didn't do much for me. Probably because I got so caught up in the Dorothy Dandridge advertisement during one particularly eventful pit stop.

As for Kingsley, I've got no beef with him either (although jarma is persuasive). I haven't read his poetry though. But have read Lucky Jim & count chapter six as one of the all-time--stranded-on-the-moon hangover passages of all time. "...his mouth had been used, alternately, as a latrine and mausoleum by small creatures of the night." K. Amis is not as well stocked in US bookshops. I think a majority of his work isn't even available. *On Drink* is nowhere to be found. Although in the early 90's it was tough to find Martin's books also, at least in the burbs.
