Have you read Kingley Amis' poem: "Tell Your Dad" (this)? It's priceless. All about giving Jesus Christ a peace of his mind. The poet addresses Christ on the cross and Tells him "to come down off it"-so to speak- and LIVE life the way the rest of us chumps have to: i.e., make a living, get married, have a few kids, rear & support the ungrateful, little bastards, struggle.. ad nauseum. (i'm injecting my own paraphrasing here) etc, etc. It's wonderful.
My fav Kinsgley line was from an interview he did. Sir K. was asked about leaving his first wife, Hillary (Martin's mother) many years before: Did he ever regret it?
Kingsley Amis: "Only all the fucking time."
