Jennifer left false clues on purpose. Arnold Debs was to throw off Mike, and remember that she stole the drugs to make it appear that she was in the throes of deep depression to somehow comfort her parents. Mike realised this and asked the coroner to keep the fact that jennifer's system did NOT show signs of frequent anti-depressant use so as not to add to the confusion of Jennifer's father. Maybe I misread but Jennifer killed herself because she saw (as a brilliant astronomer) the insignificance of her life and she understood that true "seeing" comes from being on the brink of existance --but she also realised that no one else would accept this as a motive which is why she left those "clues".
