Enough said. I've never objected to expression of opinions, be they negative or positive. In fact, I encourage them, which was the reason, as you so correctly pointed out, that I started the discussion forum on the London Fields web site. It's just a shame these things can't be done on a more mature level, but that's an unfortunate downside to electronic discussion groups. Your "peppery" comments simply caught me at an unfortunate time. Often, it seems, very valid thoughts get lost in their style of delivery. Perhaps this problem mitigates itself with maturity, or perhaps simply by a moment of reflection before clicking the "submit" button.
I too have taken the bait, and fell down to the lower levels of the MAD discussion styles in my last postings. It was wrong for me to respond in a manner that I in turn have criticized. Sorry.
Let's put this thread to bed and get back to discussions of things Martin Amis, and even London Fields - the most expensive novel I've ever read!
