Having recomended Tibor Fischer's *THE THOUGHT GANG* below (read it! read it! read it!) all these tales of excre-mental experience remind me of a good(ish) story in Hanif Kureshi's good(ish) *LOVE IN A BLUE TIME*. Can't remember the title but it's the one about an ex-heroin addict going to his new girlfriend's parents' house for Sunday Lunch etc etc and falling foul (ha!) of his bowels (no rhyme intended).
PS - What with Geoff's piece being posted so recently and the rise of the (scatological) MAD anecdote as a self-establishing form, I feel a parody coming on. I've been reading the one's posted off of the home page and having a good chuckle (StephenP, I never knew you had it in you). Ah, the urge to roll up Golden Virginia in front of my computer and start getting to grips with all those *colons* - semi or otherwise...
