I have to give Mart a bit more credit for his method of choice. It's gotta be the flavor. The draw from a Golden Virginia must be pretty satisfying. I used to smoke Drums a while back and was surprised that it was not particularly harsh. Nothing like a Marlboro Red or Camel Filter. So I don't think the filter is necessarily a benefit healthwise. Depends on the brand. Also, was just told the other day that Drums are no longer imported into the US, or if they are it's a bogus tobacco they use. Not the same product you'd get in Holland. Anyway, in my case Andrew Martin's reason #1 was more the statement I was trying to make. Well, since I'm currently on the cigarette roller coaster I might try to sample some of these famed VG's. Always an excellent way to impress the boss too.

As for names, I remember Silk Cut as being the "cancer" of choice in England. Another appropriately inappropriate name for a butt.

How about those amazing passages from *The Information* when Richard explains that he thought when he reached age 40 (?) he would give up smoking. But instead it only confirmed his passion. He found that he craved a smoke even WHILE he was smoking. It goes on and on until the final blow when Gwyn announces he quit cold turkey. Something about that being the only thing left he liked about Gwyn. Have to give that another look, I think it's early in, around the tennis match.

Then there's John Self's memorable "I lit another cigarette. BTW, unless I say otherwise, I'm always lighting another cigarette."
